Three years ago, word on the Internet started to spread about a little group called the International Geek Girl Pen Pals Club, where you could sign up to be matched with a new friend who shared similar nerdy interests. And I jumped on the opportunity.
Not only was I matched with a pen pal, but I watched as an entire community of amazing women began to form around the hashtag #IGGPPC on Twitter. SO many of these women have since become my friends, and I can honestly say that my life would be completely different if the IGGPPC had never been formed.
So, when the club’s fearless leaders put out a call for anyone who wanted to contribute to giveaway shenanigans to celebrate the club’s third birthday, I knew I wanted to give back to the community in some small way.
Aided by my bestie, I’ve been working on some new designs, and the birthday giveaway seemed like the perfect chance to unveil them (and the best motivation to actually finish them).
These notecards are the first in a line of thank-you cards that feature a quote from a notable figure, paired with a small icon tied to the figure’s life or work.
After being printed on lush 110lb white cardstock, the quotes are foiled with in matte black — a process that transfers a heat-reactive colored foil to the paper to give the cards an extra something. Two icons have been foiled in silver and gold for a little more flair.
The insides are blank, allowing them to be used for any occasion, from a formal note to your partner’s parents for having you over for dinner to thanking your best friend after she got you the latest season of Downton Abbey on DVD.
If you’d like a chance to win this set of cards before they’re officially unveiled in my Etsy shop in April, visit the IGGPPC blog and enter the 3rd birthday giveaways!
